Webus International Limited made a key announcement on May 29 in Hangzhou. The company revealed a plan to raise up to US$300 million through non-equity financing. This move will support the creation of an XRP reserve aimed at improving global cross-border payments.
Webus also renewed its national partnership with Tongcheng Travel. This partnership will boost domestic services while the financing supports international goals. The company confirmed it will not issue new shares for the financing.
Instead, it may use cash reserves, loans, or credit from financial institutions. This approach helps protect shareholder value. The proposed funds will support three main areas. First, the company will build a reserve of XRP tokens.
Webus Plans Faster Global Growth
These digital assets will help process international payments faster and at lower costs. Second, Webus will develop blockchain infrastructure. This includes building digital wallets, loyalty programs, and on-chain records for bookings. Third, the plan will help Webus grow its global operations more quickly.
The partnership with Tongcheng will continue to connect travelers across China. It will expand the “Wetour × Tongcheng” charter service and use data from Tongcheng’s large user base. This will enhance first- and last-mile transportation nationwide.
Webus will combine this data with its luxury vehicle network to improve service quality. Webus focuses on AI-powered mobility solutions. Its “Mobility-as-a-Service” model offers high-end rides for travelers. The company uses real-time AI and multilingual support to serve customers in many countries.
Travel Meets Tech Webus’s Plan for the Future
Tongcheng Travel operates as a full-service travel platform in China. It provides services such as ticketing, hotel booking, tours, and more. It is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and serves hundreds of millions of users each year.
Webus believes that the XRP-based system could make cross-border payments faster and simpler. It may also allow quick refunds and real-time settlements with service providers. The company said the financing remains under discussion and depends on final agreements.
Both the XRP initiative and the extended Tongcheng partnership reflect Webus’s goal of creating seamless travel experiences across borders. The company plans to use blockchain technology and deep partnerships to lead the future of mobility.
