Cardano founder Charles Hokinson took to a live YouTube broadcast to reveal the project’s vision to partner with XRP, bridging Bitcoin with ADA’s ecosystem and using Chainlink’s oracle services in the future.
The “Surprise AMA” session, which lasted over two hours, revealed new details and timelines for these milestones. It also included talks from Gillette and Wyoming. The core discussion was advanced security measures and technical collaboration among multiple blockchain projects.
Cardano to utilize XRP’s infrastructure in its Midnight project
Cadano’s founder expressed his intentions to incorporate XRP’s infrastructure in its upcoming privacy-focused project, Midnight. He further noted that Ripple’s CTO, David Schwartz, and XRP’s team have already sparked conversations about how both platforms can benefit from each other. Hoskinson affirmed;
We’d like to include Ripple in the Midnight ecosystem. There are ongoing talks between the Midnight people and the Ripple people and a lot of technological talks as well. And we’ve been trying to learn more about how their stack works,
Regarding its collaboration with Ripple, Cardano’s founder further mentioned its smart-contract language Marlowe as something XRP’s developer may be interested in. Moreover, he called XRP’s Flare, a layer 1 Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), “pretty cool, pretty interesting” feature of the network.
Charles Hoskinson impressed with Chainlink’s Oracle solutions
While speaking on Chainlink’s integration with the Cardano blockchain, Hoskinson recalled its initial discussions with the project, which started in 2021. However, this partnership initiative never became a reality despite the agreements signed between the parties. He noted;
Where I don’t think there’s a commercial issue or an integration or technical issue, something got cross-wired […] we’ll circle back and I’ll find out what happened there.
Still, he expressed Cardano’s interest in the Orcales and wanted to reopen the talks. Chainlink’s Oracle expands a project’s reach by connecting smart contracts with real-world data, payments, and events via a highly reliable infrastructure. Though Cardano’s founder asserted there was no hate between them, he simultaneously suggested Charlie3 and Flare as alternatives.
BTC-ADA bridging
The last and more in-depth technical segment of the AMA session was to involve Bitcoin in Cardano’s ecosystem. He shed light on multiple plans to build a trustless BTC-ADA bridging solution that involves multiple teams of blockchain professionals.
Highlighting the importance of cross-chain protocols’ security measures and formal methods, Hoskinson pointed to the past billion-dollar loss such projects faced. Hence, “the single most important bridging project” will focus on delivering a cryptographically rigorous and reliable design instead of matching shorter market cycles, he said.
According to Hoskinson, Cardano will present a robust bridging design at the industry’s annual conference, Bitcoin 2025, by May of next year. He said;
We can’t put our fingerprints on it until we know the cryptography works, because if we build something and a year down the road there’s a billion dollars worth of Bitcoin in it and it gets hacked, that’s a catastrophe.
