The Open Network (TON) blockchain has asked its validators to gear up for an expected influx of millions of users from the Web3 game Hamster Kombat. This increase in users is likely to boost demand for the system.
On Sept. 25, a Telegram group for TON validators, developers, and integrators issued a heads-up about a coming spike in bandwidth needs for the blockchain.
The announcement urged TON validators to stay highly available as users of Hamster Kombat start minting Hamster Kombat (HMSTR) tokens on the blockchain.
The quality of validators directly affects the quality of the blockchain. We appreciate your participation in The Open Network.
For real-time support from Sept. 26 to 29, all TON validators should join the “TON Status” Telegram channel. If any urgent updates or fixes are needed, they must be handled within an hour of notice. Additionally, validators are asked to monitor their validator and hardware throughout this period closely.

Hamster Kombat surges past 150 million sign-ups
The Telegram game Hamster Kombat now has 100 active users each month. It’s also one of the fastest-growing apps, with 150 million sign-ups, beating popular apps like Pokémon GO and Meta’s Threads. The Sandbox metaverse co-founder, Sébastien Borget, recently emphasized how games on Telegram are transforming the play-to-earn space.
This is both exciting and significant. It shows how rapidly things change in this industry, fueled by the network effect of Web3. In just a few weeks or months, they can achieve remarkable growth. On Sept. 25, the Hamster Kombat team shared an exciting new roadmap outlining their plans for the last quarter of 2024 and early 2025.
In Q4 2024, they aim to integrate external payment systems, launch new games within the Hamster ecosystem, and introduce non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as in-game assets. Additionally, Hamster Kombat announced that it had banned 2.3 million users for cheating, emphasizing its commitment to fair play.
