Ripple made a $25 million donation to aid classroom and education initiatives in the United States. It will donate to Teach For America and DonorsChoose. Much of it will arrive in the form of Ripple USD stablecoin.
It’s the first occasion when both nonprofits have received a donation in the form of stablecoin through platforms that include The Giving Block. Ripple focuses on building up education infrastructure as well as offering direct support to teachers and students in need.
The investment will sponsor national tutoring efforts, STEM-based entrepreneurial innovation initiatives, and comprehensive financial literacy endeavors. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse underscored the organization’s vision to enable communities through education expansion as well as balanced access to financial tools.
DonorsChoose and Teach For America will channel the grant toward supporting teacher-led projects and tutoring programs nationwide.
Ripple’s donation coincides with Teacher Appreciation Week and is expected to fund thousands of classroom requests this year. The donation will also assist Teach For America’s Ignite Tutoring Fellows program and a national STEM Innovation Challenge.
A 2024 Gallup survey highlighted dissatisfaction among 55% of American adults regarding K-12 education quality. Ripple’s commitment addresses these concerns by delivering essential classroom resources and improving access to quality education.
Stablecoins redefine philanthropy with Ripple
Alix Guerrier of DonorsChoose appreciated Ripple’s support, noting how teachers often spend personal funds to supply their classrooms.
The initiative also incorporates targeted work to expand economic literacy in schools to prepare the student population for economic engagement in a technological workforce. Aneesh Sohoni, Teach For America’s CEO, stated that Ripple’s gift would benefit teacher preparation and innovation through their Reinvention Lab.
Ripple’s use of RLUSD sets a new standard in philanthropic giving, as stablecoins now account for over half of on-chain crypto transactions globally.
The move highlights a shift toward more efficient, transparent donation systems that nonprofits can implement with ease. These efforts reflect Ripple’s broader goal to use digital assets for real-world impact and educational growth.
Ripple has spent more than $200 million worldwide since 2018 in support of nonprofits, financial technology initiatives, and universities, investing in partnership and technology-based giving to fuel long-term academic access and opportunity across the country.
