President-elect Donald Trump announced the creation of the Presidential Council of Advisers for Digital Assets, also known as the “Crypto Council.” Bo Hines, a former college football player and Yale graduate, will serve as its executive director. This new advisory group is chaired by David Sacks, referred to as the “Crypto Czar.”
Wake Forest University Law School graduate Hines will team up with Sacks to foster development in the digital asset space. Their tasks also include ensuring that those at the top of industries are provided with the right resources. Trump praised the council and such organizations’ importance for the development of a successful crypto environment in the United States as crucial for the country’s technological progress.
In 2022, Hines tried to represent the Republicans in North Carolina‘s U.S. House seat but was defeated by Wiley Nickel of the Democrats. As an executive editor of Block, Hines will engage with industry pioneers to advance the Trump campaign commitment to making the United States a crypto-friendly country.
Trump Strengthens Crypto with key appointments
Trump appointed Sriram Krishnan as Senior Policy Advisor for Artificial Intelligence at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. A former general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Krishnan, will help shape AI policy across the government.
Working with David Sacks, Krishnan’s role focuses on ensuring American leadership in AI and coordinating policy through the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. With a career at Microsoft, where he helped build Windows Azure, Krishnan brings valuable expertise to his position.
In response to his appointment, Krishnan expressed his honor of serving the country and advancing AI development. His work aims to solidify the U.S. position as a leader in artificial intelligence and its applications.
Such appointments prove that Trump still pays attention to crypto and is not planning on leaving the industry behind. In another promise, he pledged to make the US the world capital of crypto. Iconic supporters of the crypto like the Tesla and SpaceX owner, Elon Musk has also been enlisted for advisory duties in his government.
Also, Trump nominated Paul Atkins, former Commissioner at the SEC that once publicly advocated for friendly stances towards crypto. These ites desire it will reduce pressures on regulatory enforcement actions and enhance the industry’s innovation.
