Tether continues its expansion into real-world assets with a major move in Canada. On June 10, 2025, its investment arm, Tether Investments S.A. de C.V., secured 78.4 million common shares in Elemental Altus Royalties Corp.
The deal gives Tether a 31.9% stake in the public gold royalty company. The transaction happened through a private agreement with La Mancha Investments and took place offshore. This marks another step in Tether’s push to back its ecosystem with stable, long-term assets.
It adds to its growing exposure to gold, following its sizable holdings in both physical gold and Bitcoin. USDT sees both assets as pillars of strength for future digital finance. On the same day, Tether also signed an option agreement with AlphaStream Limited and its subsidiary, Alpha 1 SPV Limited.
Elemental offers Royalty-based gold exposure
The agreement gives Tether the right to buy another 34.4 million shares in Elemental. It cannot act on this option before October 29, 2025, unless Elemental gives early approval. The deal falls outside Canadian borders and remains subject to several conditions.
Elemental operates on a royalty and streaming model. It offers USDT indirect access to global gold production without direct mining risks. This fits with Tether’s strategy of seeking low-risk entry points into tangible assets. USDT holds over 100,000 Bitcoin and nearly 80 tons of gold.
Its token, Tether Gold (XAUT), ties directly to physical gold. The new investment strengthens the company’s ability to maintain that backing. It also deepens Tether’s presence in real-world asset finance. Tether may look to work more closely with Elemental in the future.
Tether’s elemental deal signals a real asset shift
It could engage with the company’s board and leadership team, depending on market and legal factors. The deal followed all rules under Canadian securities law and did not trigger takeover bid requirements. USDT Investments operates from El Salvador.
It uses surplus capital from Tether Group to invest in sectors that merge digital and physical value. Its focus ranges from artificial intelligence to infrastructure and energy. The firm targets projects that help shape a more open, strong, and tech-driven future.
This acquisition in Elemental shows that Tether continues to shift from pure digital currency toward real asset integration. With both gold and Bitcoin at its core, the company builds a two-fold base for future stability.
