OpenUSDT has integrated Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to enable seamless cross-chain transfers across the OP Superchain ecosystem.

This new version of USDT is now active on seven networks, including Base, Fraxtal, Lisk, Mode, Optimism, Soneium, and Unichain. OpenUSDT addresses the ongoing challenge of liquidity fragmentation within the Superchain by consolidating liquidity across these networks into a unified solution.

By eliminating the need for separate bridged USDT contracts on each chain, OpenUSDT enhances interoperability, reduces costs, and simplifies cross-chain operations. Celo powers OpenUSDT’s architecture, serving as the central hub that locks native USDT.

OpenUSDT: Secure, backed, and future-proof cross-chain USDT

The locked funds are collateral backing OpenUSDT on all supported chains at 1:1. This design ensures that each OpenUSDT token is verifiably backed by native USDT, maintaining trust and stability across networks.

Chainlink CCIP and Hyperlane provide critical cross-chain security and transfer functionality, preventing vendor lock-in and enabling any new chain in the Superchain ecosystem to adopt OpenUSDT without incurring additional fees.

The introduction of OpenUSDT supports Celo’s ongoing transition to an Ethereum Layer-2 solution. By offering sub-cent transaction fees and stablecoin gas payments, OpenUSDT makes cross-chain transfers more affordable and accessible.

Furthermore, OpenUSDT aligns with the ERC-7802 standard, a forward-looking interoperability framework that future-proofs the token against evolving technological requirements. This compatibility ensures that any Superchain network can seamlessly integrate OpenUSDT without technical roadblocks.

Unified cross-chain liquidity for DeFi innovation

Velodrome, the primary decentralized exchange of the Superchain ecosystem, supports OpenUSDT as the key stablecoin for cross-chain trading. The platform enhances liquidity and streamlines trading across the supported networks.

Hyperlane’s interoperability framework also connects OpenUSDT to over 130 blockchains, significantly expanding its utility beyond the Superchain ecosystem.OpenUSDT democratizes access to USDT across the OP Superchain by providing permissionless access to unified liquidity pools.

Developers can leverage this liquidity to build cross-chain DeFi applications without the complexities of fragmented stablecoin pools. Chainlink CCIP guarantees secure and reliable transfers between networks, reinforcing the security of the entire ecosystem.

Future-ready stablecoin interoperability

Looking ahead, the design of OpenUSDT allows for future upgrades, including native USDT minting and redemptions. This model strengthens the Superchain ecosystem while maintaining transparent 1:1 backing.

The launch of OpenUSDT marks a significant milestone in stablecoin interoperability, unlocking new opportunities for decentralized finance and cross-chain liquidity across the broader blockchain landscape.
