Changpeng Zhao, also commonly referred to as CZ, firmly refuted allegations made in a report published by the Wall Street Journal stating he secretly worked behind the scenes for a controversial crypto initiative called World Liberty Foreign.

CZ refuted the claims as erroneous and stated he does not have any involvement with the said project or any personal relation with the people mentioned in the report.

The article by the Wall Street Journal accused CZ of acting as a point of contact for Zach Witkoff, a figure associated with the Trump-linked crypto platform. It further suggested CZ made political introductions in countries such as Pakistan, Malaysia, and Kyrgyzstan.

According to the report, these connections allegedly led to government agreements and public appointments tied to the WLF initiative. CZ completely refuted those claims, asserting he met government representatives during unrelated travels and had no hand in their collaboration with WLF.

CZ responded strongly to the Wall Street Journal’s line of questioning, saying the assumptions behind the article were wrong from the beginning. He added that the questions were framed negatively and lacked credible evidence, designed more to support a narrative than to reveal facts.

Denies Crypto Involvement With Pakistani Government Official

However, he pointed out that the publication wrongly linked his activities to WLF’s operations, even though there was no interaction between him and their planning or partnerships.

He specifically denied having any involvement with a reported meeting between Zach Witkoff and Pakistani government official Mr. Saqib. He clarified that he met Mr. Saqib for the first time during a visit to Pakistan, well after others involved had already established contact.

CZ described the article as another attempt to discredit global crypto figures and slow down crypto adoption in the United States. He blamed unidentified forces with attempting to manipulate facts to harm the reputations of crypto chiefs and curtail the increasing role of digital currencies.

Binance founder insists on differentiating facts and assumptions and advocating responsible reporting in a sector already under international spotlight.
