Coinbase has expanded its relationship with Webull into Canada through a new crypto infrastructure agreement on August 31, 2026. Webull Canada will use Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform for digital asset trading and custody, giving Canadian customers access to crypto through the brokerage’s existing platform rather than a separate Coinbase application.
Under the agreement, Coinbase will supply trading infrastructure, liquidity and custody services for Webull Canada. Webull will remain responsible for the customer-facing investment service, while Coinbase handles key systems supporting crypto transactions and asset storage. The arrangement allows Webull to add crypto without building a separate system from the ground up.
Michael Constantino, CEO of Webull Canada, said crypto is becoming an increasingly important asset class for Canadian investors. He added that Coinbase will provide the infrastructure needed to support the planned crypto offering.
“Canadian investors expect access to a growing range of asset classes, and crypto has become an increasingly important part of that mix. Our partnership with Coinbase provides the infrastructure needed to deliver this offering with the scale and reliability our clients expect,” Constantino said.
Webull Prepares Crypto Trading for Canadian Clients
Webull Canada had already announced plans to launch crypto trading after securing regulatory approval. The service will operate 24/7 and support Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, and Litecoin. Selected customers will get early beta access before Webull opens the platform to a wider audience.
The planned service will keep several investment features within Webull’s existing platform. Customers will be able to fund accounts, track portfolios, view reports, and trade digital assets through the same brokerage platform they use for other investments. Webull entered Canada in January 2024 after receiving regulatory authorization in November 2023.
Webull’s Canadian brokerage already supports Canadian and U.S.-listed stocks, exchange-traded funds, and options. Its account offerings also include cash, margin, tax-free savings, and retirement accounts. Beyond Canada, Webull has more than 27 million registered users worldwide and operates licensed brokerage businesses across 16 markets.
Coinbase Expands Webull Crypto Partnership Across Markets
The Canadian agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies in the United States, Brazil, and Australia. Coinbase provides Webull with crypto infrastructure, liquidity, custody, and access to digital assets across these markets. Webull chose Coinbase for its broad asset selection, competitive pricing, liquidity, and ability to support operations across multiple countries.
The partnership began on May 16, 2025, when Coinbase and Webull Pay agreed to use Crypto-as-a-Service for Webull’s crypto offering. The arrangement included institutional-grade custody, trading, staking and USDC access. Webull later expanded its crypto relationship with Coinbase Derivatives on October 30, 2025.
The derivatives expansion added futures for Dogecoin, XRP, and Solana. Meanwhile, Coinbase has expanded its digital asset services through tokenized stocks, derivatives, and crypto infrastructure. Coinbase also secured a Markets in Crypto-Assets license in Luxembourg, allowing it to serve customers across 27 European Union member states.
