Coinbase is preparing to introduce an all-in-one platform in Canada that would combine cryptocurrency trading, tokenized stocks, and prediction markets under a single service. Eric Richmond, Managing Director of Coinbase Canada, shared the plan during an interview with BNN Bloomberg. The company representatives are also working with Canadian authorities before the launch takes place.

Richmond said the platform would use blockchain technology to support trading at any hour of the day instead of following regular stock market schedules. Round-the-clock access would remove time limits linked to traditional exchanges. Meanwhile, company discussions with Canadian regulators remain part of the preparation for any future rollout.

Coinbase has already introduced similar services in the United States and is now bringing comparable products to international markets. Canada has become part of the company’s expansion plans as digital asset regulations continue to develop.

Coinbase Expands With Tokenized Stock Services

Coinbase also plans to introduce a tokenized stock service later this month for users outside the USA. The service would allow investors to buy and trade fractional ownership of traditional company shares through blockchain technology instead of purchasing full shares.

Richmond said clearer rules for a Canadian dollar-backed stablecoin could support new financial products across Canada. According to the company’s plans, regulatory certainty would give businesses a clearer path before introducing services linked to digital payments and tokenized assets.

Fractional stock ownership could give investors access to shares that may otherwise cost more to purchase in full. Combined with continuous trading, the service would place digital assets, tokenized stocks, and prediction markets within one account instead of requiring separate platforms.

Canadian Rules Shape Coinbase Expansion Plans

Coinbase continues discussions with Canadian regulators while the country develops a clearer framework for digital asset businesses. Canadian Securities Administrators have been preparing guidance for crypto trading platforms, while Coinbase continues working with authorities before bringing additional services to the Canadian market.

Regulatory approval remains an important part of any launch. Consumer protections and compliance with Canadian laws will determine when the platform becomes available. Coinbase representatives have made regulatory cooperation part of the preparation rather than introducing products before legal requirements are met.

Expansion plans also reflect broader changes across financial markets as companies connect traditional investment products with blockchain-based services. Tokenized stocks and prediction markets have become part of broader efforts to bring different asset classes together within a single digital trading environment.
