Robinhood is expanding its UK offering by introducing crypto trading for eligible customers, according to a Bloomberg report, allowing users to trade more than 50 digital assets directly through its investment app. The addition puts cryptocurrencies alongside stocks, shares, ISAs, options, and futures, giving UK investors access to multiple asset classes through one platform.
Robinhood is using Bitstamp UK Ltd. to provide its cryptocurrency services in Britain, following its $200 million acquisition of the crypto platform in 2025. Bitstamp UK operates under registration with the UK Financial Conduct Authority, providing the regulatory framework for Robinhood’s expanded digital asset offering in the country.
The initial crypto lineup includes XRP, Bitcoin, Ether, and HYPE, giving eligible UK customers access to several major digital assets. Robinhood said users will not pay trading, account maintenance, or custody charges at the outset. However, foreign exchange conversions will carry a 0.1% fee, rising to 0.3% for certain weekend conversions.
UK Crypto Trading Expands Robinhood’s Product Range
Eligible customers can access the new crypto service directly through Robinhood’s investment app, making it easier to manage digital asset trades within their existing accounts. The rollout gives UK users a familiar way to buy and sell cryptocurrencies while Robinhood continues to expand its presence in the country’s digital asset market.
Robinhood has clarified that crypto holdings maintained through Bitstamp UK are not covered by the UK’s Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) or the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). The company has included the exclusion in the terms governing its cryptocurrency offering for customers in the UK.
As part of the UK rollout, users will also gain access to Robinhood Cortex Digests for Crypto, a generative AI tool built around market analysis. It reviews breaking news, market data, technical indicators, and the platform’s own insights to explain the factors that may be driving price movements in individual cryptocurrencies.
Crypto Revenue Drops Despite Broader Expansion
Robinhood’s UK crypto rollout comes after a weaker quarter for its cryptocurrency transaction business. Revenue generated from crypto transactions dropped 38% year over year to $100 million for the quarter ended June 30, according to the financial results published on July 29.
Meanwhile, other parts of the business posted stronger quarterly results. Prediction markets brought in $156 million, exceeding crypto transaction revenue for the first time. Across the company, net revenue grew 32% year over year to $1.31 billion, while net income climbed 48% to $573 million.
During the same period, the company continued to broaden its digital asset operations. Robinhood Chain went live in July, while its Stock Tokens offering expanded to more than 120 countries. The platform also rolled out Robinhood Earn and finalized the purchase of Canadian crypto firm WonderFi.
Robinhood Expands Investment Push With Second Venture Fund
Robinhood is broadening its investment offerings alongside the UK crypto launch. The company recently filed plans to raise up to $200 million through its second publicly listed venture fund, pending regulatory approval, adding another expansion effort to its financial business.
Robinhood Ventures Fund II will offer 7.6 million shares at $25 each, with trading expected on the New York Stock Exchange under RVII from August 13. The fund will target around 80 earlier-stage companies, seed-stage firms linked to Y Combinator.
